Hi folks, I’m Djune (pronounced DeeJoon) at djunehagerty.com. I wanted to tell you about why I started my blog Running Your Home for Fun and Profit.
Originally I started the blog so I could practice writing, which is something I enjoy. As I wrote, I realized I could publish my writing on the web for others to read. But then I couldn’t figure out just what to write about. Finally one day an idea came to me.I will occasionally mention that I’m a Christian on my blog. I’m not here to preach — that’s not my gift — but it does inform many of my decisions and actions. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always do so, even though it should.
So, when I decided to start a blog, I looked around to see what I needed to improve in my life, figuring if I have problems with it, maybe I could find some helpful information and write about it. Well, keeping all the moving parts of homemaking moving the way they should just seems to be beyond me, so here I am: writing a homemaking blog.
But I wanted to include more. I wanted to show you that homemaking can be fun and that making it fun is worth the effort. And I wanted to show you that homemaking is more than laundering clothes and sweeping floors. You can really save money, invest money, and make money at home or from home. As the homemaker, you actually have the same role in many ways as that of a Chief Financial Officer in the corporate world. These roles require a lot more knowledge and skill than which way to sweep! Let’s start running your home for fun and profit.
The Basis for Running Your Home for Fun and Profit
One evening as I was reading the Bible, I came across a short passage of verses that pretty much solidified what I wanted to talk about. Here’s that passage:
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 ESV “…and to aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, 12so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”
From that passage, I took the framework for this blog, trying to give information on how to try to live quietly, how to mind my affairs so things run smoothly, how to work with my hands to get what I need, and how to get the instruction I need to do these things so that I don’t need to depend on others to provide for me.
I’m hoping that I will be able to help those of us who are struggling to get by in today’s frenetic, overpriced world. I feel like we need to slow down and learn a quieter, more enjoyable way of living. I hope to share some ways to make money, budget the income well, and to save money, too.
If you would like to do these things too, come alongside me and we’ll travel together!
